Ants 101: What You Need to Know
Not all ants are the same, and treating the wrong way can make an infestation worse. We start every ant job with correct identification.
What Are We Dealing With?
Odorous house ants, pavement ants - common nuisance ants indoors
Carpenter ants - larger, nest in wood, often confused with termites
Pharaoh ants - tiny, pale, and easily split into multiple colonies if disturbed with the wrong product
Why Ants Are a Problem
Carpenter ants can indicate - or cause — real wood damage
Pharaoh ants require bait-only treatment; sprays can make colonies multiply and scatter
Large colonies can be tough to fully eliminate without knowing the species
How Do They Get Inside?
Moisture-damaged wood (carpenter ants)
Cracks, gaps, and shared walls
Trailing in from outdoor food sources
What We Do About It
Correct species ID first — this changes the entire treatment plan
Non-repellent, bait-based protocols where needed (especially Pharaoh ants)
Carpenter ant vs. termite differentiation, since the treatments are completely different
What You Can Do
Don't spray visible ants yourself before we inspect - it can scatter the colony
Fix moisture issues that attract carpenter ants
Store food tightly sealed
